Mill Hayes Pool

Map

General Information

The Mill Hayes pool is situated just one field away from the Cricket Ground Pool. It is fed by a combination of the Cricket Ground Pool and another small stream that filter together just before Mill Hayes. The pool itself is only small with 11 comfortable pegs. The pool went under an intense re-development programme in spring 2003, where the pegs and path were renewed and the fish stock was increased. This has left the pool is great condition. The pool is also very easily accessed. The path and pegs are generally flat and the trees and bushes are cut back on a regular basis. The pool is often described as the most peaceful VBAS pool, and when you consider that is compared to the likes of the Serpentine, its pretty good going.

Known Species

As previously mentioned, the stock of fish was increased in spring 2003. The new fish were over 2000 small roach and skimmer bream. The new stock complements the old perfectly as the majority of fish are roach and bream. They are not a bad size either considering the size of the pool, most roach being 4oz plus and bream averaging 2lb. Other fish that are present are numerous perch and gudgeon, mainly small with the occasional good perch. Crucian carp, tench, mirror + common carp, rudd and even golden orfe can also be caught.

Extra Rules/Conditions

The gate to the pool is locked at night. The times of opening and closing are shown on a sign situated on the pool side gate.
