River Dane - Somerford Park Farm
Map - Start and end of our section details in permit
General Information
This stretch of The River Dane in between Congleton and Holmes Chapel is one of the more picturesque on the river. During the summer, nature takes its course and bushes and trees grow all down the stretch making some great little hidden away pegs. In general, the river is approx 7 metres wide with depths ranging from a few inches to 8-9ft in the deep holes (excellent swims). There are about 16-17 pegs on the stretch, most of which, have many features (deep holes, fallen trees, etc.) to cast at. In general, this is my preferred stretch of the Dane, both in summer and winter alike.
Known Species
As with most of the Dane in this area, most course fish are present. In the majority, chub, dace and grayling will make up most of the fish that inhabit this stretch, although reports of large perch and pike are increasingly common. To back these fish up are occasional roach, bream, carp and more recently barbel, |
