Tick Hill Lane Pool

Map

General Information

Tick Hill Lane pool was taken over by Victoria & Biddulph AS in April 2007. Although further away that our other waters, the pool is set in beautiful countryside, with views across to Cheadle and surrounding areas making the extra travelling worth while. The pool is approx a quarter of an acre in size fitting 12 comfortable pegs around its perimeter. Made up originally of two separate pools, the pool has a main bay with depths up to 4ft in the centre and a smaller back bay with depths up to 3ft. Between the two deeper areas is a small shallower bar which was originally the strip of land separating the two pools. At the near end of the pool, are some overhanging trees with a water pipe providing water for the pool. This is shortly followed by several small reed beds which stretch to the far end of the pool reaching theoutlet. Part way along the left hand bank, is another of water inlet which is provided by a nearby spring. In general terms this is a pool best suited to the pleasure angler, looking for a peaceful days fishing well away from the distractions of the towns and cities.

Known Species

The pool is well stocked with many roach and small bream to 2lb plus. These fish are in abundance and provide excellent fishing right throughout the year. These fish are then backed up with tench, and a mix of mirror and common carp. Although the size of the pool dictates that these fish can't grow to specimen weights, they certainly will put up a good fight on lighter tackle. Other species such as perch and some crucian carp can be caught although are not as dominant as the roach and bream.

 Additional rules/Special Conditions

- Due to the distance of the pool, the farmer (owner of the pool) will bailiff this water. Anglers must show there membership card to the farmer when asked.

- Junior members must be accompanied STRICTLY by an adult responsible for them at all times and MUST fish next to the adult.

- Angers must fish their water only and not fish in another pegs water. Remember, this pool is only small.

- Cars to be parked on the small area at the side of the road (parking for 4 cars) and then must use the stile to access the water. An overflow parking area is available 100yards towards Caverswall if needed.

 Directions

From Biddulph head towards the A52 using one of the many possible ways. (Through Milton to Cellarhead traffic lights is usually the quickest. Although heading through Werrington from Hanley is another option). Follow the A52 through Cellarhead traffic lights towards Cheadle. Not long after, take your first right hand turn towards Dilhorne and then your next right again, towards Caverswall (sign posted). Just down this road on your right will appear some buildings with a small pull in area on the left with a farm gate. Park in this pull in not blocking the gate and using the stile to the left of the gate, proceed into the field. Follow the field straight out from the stile approx 60 yards to the pool. If there is no room on the car park, drive 100yards further down the lane and another car park is available on the left.
