The VBAS junior membership not only offers an oppertunity to fish on our waters, it also offers much, much more.

- A regular occurance on our club waters is the VBAS junior open matches. Although there is no actual junior match calender, these matches are run on a demand basis in which if the organiser is shown enough interest in a match, he will run one.

- At some point during the year, the club will enter a certain number of junior members into a national championship. The transport and supervision will be provided. There is little information on this at the moment but here is a re-cap of the 2004 match. ' . A group of junior VBAS members fished a national match at Newport on the 14th August 2004. The following is Junior team member, Sam Forrester's account of the event. ‘After meeting at the Cricket Club, we got in the mini bus and set off. We got there early to have a look around. The fishing was more quality than quantity but we all enjoyed it. The weigh in revealed that we had received more awards than any other club. These included 2 section winners (David Rushton and Stephanie O'Donnell) , best girl (Natalie Beech) and best Stoke (Michael Wood). At the end we all received a goody bag with bits of tackle in. We would like to thank Mick Landen, Tony Ellor and Glen Shelley for taking us and VBAS for paying.' Well done to all the juniors who took part, you have done the club proud.'

As you can see, most of the youngsters did very well in picking up awards and all enjoyed the day out. The awards for this match and the VBAS juniors matches were given out at the AGM. (See above picture).

- VBAS have two fully qualified fishing coaches. They are availible for advise most of the time and during the year they run 'teach in' events where they teach anglers of all ages and skill the basics and tricks of angling. It is these two individuals that run all junior activities so even if your a beginner, we can help you learn and develope your fishing ability.
